HVAC Maintenance and Repair Services

The #1 driving force for what determines the longevity of a home’s heating and cooling system, is maintenance.

While a quality installation is the biggest determining factor in ensuring your heating and air conditioning system has a long service life. A huge factor to accomplish this is regular, routine maintenance.

Any kind of home comfort system, especially newer systems and oil-fired systems, are dependent on routine maintenance to make sure that they can provide reliable and efficient comfort or many years.

We all know that one person; the one who says “I’ve had my system for 20 years and I haven’t done anything to it”.

While that is true and some lucky individuals can get away with it, doesn’t mean everyone will, or should even try.

While you think you are saving money per year by not maintaining your system, you are taking a real gamble with the stability of your system. An unexpected breakdown can lead to expensive, again unexpected repairs that are usually compounded by another, underlying issue, and by fixing one problem you’ve unleashed a domino effect. We call it the Paradox of Expensive Sounds.

This usually results in us having to quote for new equipment because the repair would be far from worth it.

Think of it this way: Would you ever NOT change the oil in your car?

Of course not! Thats insane! If you don’t change the oil in a vehicle (especially if you have a turbocharger), you could end up with:

  • Excessive mechanical wear (think bearings)
  • Poor timing advancement/retardation
  • Overheating of critical components
  • And the big one: Total engine failure

It stands to reason that without maintenance, you’d be buying a car every 5 years (whether you actually want to or not).

It’s the same thing for your HVAC system. Take an innocuous, yet essential part of your central air conditioning system for instance: your run capacitor. It may seem okay on the outside, and the system may run, however, it may read low in microfarads (a unit representing capacitance, or the strength of a capacitor) compared to its rating plate. This can cause your compressor (that big loud, expensive motor in your AC) to start weaker and run less efficiently, causing it to wear out faster. A weak capacitor in an air conditioner causes MORE harm to an AC compressor than a dead one.

Unfortunately, there comes a time with every home comfort system that parts break down, usually at the most inconvenient of times. At Precision Comfort we understand that such an unexpected event can be stressful. Let us alleviate that stress by taking it off of your hands.

We prioritize breakdowns of your heating and cooling system over anything else, and we are reachable 24/7 by phone or text, especially in the middle of winter when time is of the essence.

While we do our best to fix all issues the same day, some parts may have a lead time. Generally, we prefer to use OEM parts as permanent solutions, however, in order to expedite the process to get your system back up and running, we may substitute your OEM parts for universal aftermarket parts, so you are still comfortable while your parts arrive.

Additionally, we will attempt to repair a broken-down system whenever possible. There is no need to worry about us pressuring you into buying a new system. We will only suggest replacement when that option is sensible, or if parts are not available.

Our diagnostic process uses the ‘wide-narrow-wide’ model. This means that we will evaluate your entire system in order to determine the most sensible and complete repair options. As a principle, we do not believe in repairing ‘just a part’ since we wouldn’t know if the issue happened because of some underlying issue. This is why, after a repair is complete, we reevaluate your entire heating and cooling system from top to bottom to ensure it operating to manufacturer specifications.

“Without data, you’re just another person with an opinion.” – William E. Deming

For peace of mind, we also warranty all installed parts for 1-year, labor included. Some parts carry a longer warranty, and we will match our labor warranty to the manufacturer of that specific part.

For honest and reliable diagnostics on your heating and cooling system, or if you want a second opinion, give us a call, or text us at 484.545.8015, or submit a request form here, and we will reach out to you shortly.
